Men on Boats reimagines the 1869 expedition on the colorado river by casting female and non binary performers in a story about a group of men. The show takes audiences through John Wesley Powell's expedition through the lens of those not included in the story. Through twists and turns their comradery is tested as they prove to the world and themselves that they can navigate this river.
Our production featured a cast of 10 and the unique challenge of no major scenery apart from 3 burlap drapes. This was accomplished through the use of 12 wooden crates that acted as boats, storage and scenery throughout the show. I was the Props ASM through rehearsals and called the show through tech and performances which was a unique experience to navigate but gave me a great overview on many of the responsibilities in stage management.
